Twelfth post - Preparing Materials for Christmas Market Stall (work experience)

Explain how we have worked together to :

• Ensure the most resourceful use of materials: give examples eg. cutting methods, keeping costs down, ability to mass produce

• Appeal to our target audience: time of year, colours, hand-finishing, professional level of outcome

• Gain transferable skills for the future: collaborative working, working to a deadline, profit margins, entrepreneurship, presentation, working for a target audience, business acumen

Business acumen is keenness and quickness in understanding and dealing with a "business situation" (risks and opportunities) in a manner that is likely to lead to a good outcome.

Include photos of your making process to illustrate.

Eleventh post - Independent Study 20th - 24th Nov

Document your 2hrs minimum of proactive independent study (work you have set yourself)

Tenth post - Independent Study, Christmas Market task

Write a blog post analysing the creative / handmade business opportunities at the Christmas Markets:

Select 3 examples and explain their brand and how their products stand out from the others. Are there any that inspire you or you could see yourself working towards in the future? What research, planning and preparation do you think they need to put in before the event?  

Ninth Post: Reflecting on the Create Your Future event

*Discussion of examples and evaluating what you have learned is key here: the more you are able to evidence in your reflection the better your grade will be!

Eighth Post: Natty Bee Case Study

•How did Natalie build her business: explain the stages, skills needed, pathway from university

•What considerations does Natalie make to meet her target audience needs?

•How does Natalie brand herself?

•What information is available on her website? How is this beneficial in gaining work?

•How does Natalie promote her business?

•From looking at Natalie’s promotional material/website, what considerations will you make when composing your own and branding yourself? 

Seventh blog post: independent study 13th - 19th Nov

Document your 2hrs (minimum) of independent study:

you reflect on this / show examples of what you have done / learned as a result of this: photos, videos, vlog, screenshots etc. 

Sixth Post: Photographing Your Work

•Photograph your work: explore ‘white balance’ for high quality outcomes

•Document the process: camera settings, pop up studio, you taking the photos

^ use photos of the pop up studio / you using the studio to illustrate your blog post

First Blog post: Reflect on Vision for Porgression Monday

 Reflect on what you learned from the experience yesterday:

 - Add a description to explain your knowledge of what a great BTEC art student is like: characteristics/behaviours/attitude/approach, what they do on a regular basis? Self-reflect, what could you work on/improve?

 - What did you learn about independent study? Why is it important that you undertake independent study on your course and for the future? Where have you identified in your week that you plan to do this and what ideas do you have of where you’d like to start?

 - What did you learn about what motivates you? Discuss the three most important factors to you and explain how these could be fulfilled by examples of careers/jobs/work activities

 - What ideas discussed in “Looking to the future, how can art help?” did you find most interesting? What have you learned about the importance of art to society/community/mental health/for raising awareness/transferrable skills
